Tuba Technician

ADAM GOLDSON hails from Long Island, New York. He has more than 25 years of experience as a performer, music educator and adjudicator.

His formal education began at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he studied both Classical and Jazz Performance, including Tuba Studies with Gregory Fritze of the Boston Ballet Orchestra and Rhode Island Philharmonic. He also studied conducting and earned his BA in Music Education from Dowling College.

Adam’s teaching experience includes work as the District-Wide Instrumental Music/Band Director in the Attleboro Public Schools in Attleboro, MA, as well as more than 15 years experience as a music education consultant with numerous band programs throughout the United States, He also maintains an active schedule as a freelance musician.

Adam’s marching band and drum corps experience is extensive. He marched with the Long Island Kingsmen, Blue Stars ,and Sound of Long Island. He has taught, consulted with, and worked as an administrator with many competitive high school marching bands and drum and bugle corps such as Scenic City, the Sunrisers, and Boston Crusaders. He has judged for the Eastern Marching Band Association, Western Band Association, and the Arizona Band and Orchestra Director’s Association.

Front Ensemble Coordinator

JEREMY BECK has been a percussion instructor since 2006, and has taught at schools in San Diego County, Southern California’s Inland Empire, and Northern California’s East Bay.

After graduating from Rancho Cucamonga High School, Jeremy went on to perform with the nationally acclaimed Riverside Community College Winter Percussion Ensemble (2005 – 2007, 2009) and the world renowned Blue Devils in 2006 and 2007.

He taught the front ensemble at Blue Devils B from 2009 to 2013, where he helped the percussion program win five consecutive percussion titles and three back-to-back DCI titles in the Open Class.

Mr. Beck graduated from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences , earning a diploma in audio engineering, and is currently working in Hollywood, California.  He looks forward to bringing his newly acquired audio arts skills and front ensemble expertise to Pacific Crest.

ADRIAN RIVAS is Sr. Manager of Program Management – Enterprise Infrastructure for The Walt Disney Company.  Working from the Disney ABC Television Group in Burbank, CA, Adrian develops and manages business operations, reporting, and portfolio management programs that support the delivery of information technology products and services to employees and businesses across The Walt Disney Company.

Adrian received a B.A. in Political Science (International Relations) in 1998 from UCLA. He lives with his wife, Stacy, in Valley Village, California, and is an active triathlete with a Half Ironman under his belt.

Adrian is a charter member of Pacific Crest and has served as a visual instructor and leadership coach since 1998.

Percussion Arranger/Composer

MICHAEL HUESTIS has been involved in music education since 1991 and is currently teaching at The Colony High School in North Dallas, Texas. Michael’s duties include directing the percussion ensembles, drumline, steel drum band, world percussion ensemble, assistant director of the marching band, composing and arranging for marching percussion, and the curriculum design for all percussion students in The Colony Band Cluster.

Michael’s percussion ensembles and drumlines have performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Bands of America National Percussion Festival, Bands of American Grand National Champioships, President Bush’s inaugural parade in Washington D.C. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Mr. Huestis was featured as one of the “50 Directors Who Make a Difference” by “School Band and Orchestra Magazine in 2008.

Michael’s drum corps career includes the Velvet Knights, Freelancers and Blue Devils. His Bachelor of Music Degree was earned from the University of North Texas where he performed with the U.N.T. drum line, Steel Band, the Brazilian Ensemble, Afro-Cuban Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble. Michael earned a Masters in Percussion Performance from B.Y.U. serving as a graduate assistant for the Cougar Drumline and Latin-Jazz Ensemble. Michael has studied with David Glyde, Shawn Glyde, Paul Rennick, Ron Fink, Dr. Jon Kellis, Dr. Ronald Brough and Dr. Robert Scheitroma.

In addition to his numerous arranging and recording credits, Michael is a highly sought after composer and arranger with compositions published by JKS Music, Rowloff, and Key Poulan Publications. Michael is the author of the classroom method, “Developing the Percussionist-Musician” which was developed for his middle school and high school students.

Mr. Huestis served as a Chapter President of Percussive Arts Society and his professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, and the Percussive Arts Society. Michael is a Vic Firth and Evans clinician.
