VINCE UNDERWOOD is a brass and visual instructor, drill writer, and music arranger from California’s central valley with over a decade’s worth of experience in the marching arts.

Vince began his drum corps career as a charter member of Fever Drum and Bugle Corps, and eventually went on to teach for the corps in 2006. He taught brass for the the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps in 2008 and became their Assistant Brass Caption Head in 2009.

Vince has worked at a number of high schools as a caption head, brass instructor and visual instructor, including Beyer, Live Oak, Los Gatos, and Monte Vista. He also served as the Director and Caption Head of Precision Percussion in 2011.

As a drill designer and music arranger, he has written for numerous marching bands and winter percussion ensembles, including Beyer, Benecia, Los Banos, Live Oak, and others. He is currently the drill designer and caption head for the WGI Independent ensemble Impact Winter Percussion.

In 2010 Vince was the designer for the WGI World Championship Finalist and WGI A Class Fan Favorite Award winning Los Banos High School.

Vince currently resides in Modesto, California, working as a graphic novelist and cartoonist when not teaching and designing for marching ensembles.

Mariah Hemminger

Color Guard Instructor

MARIAH HEMMINGER is from Los Gatos, California. She is pursuing her BS in Psychology at Saint Mary’s College of California.

Mariah found a passion for the color guard activity in high school, and has continued ever since. She performed with Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets (2009-2010) and Santa Clara Vanguard (2011-2013). She also performed two winter seasons, one with Imbue (2011), and one with Santa Clara Vanguard (2013).

She has taught Leigh High School’s color guard for two years.

Lauren Hutson

Front Ensemble Instructor

LAUREN HUTSON is a percussion instructor based in Moreno Valley, California. She currently attends Riverside City College and will be transferring in the fall of 2015 to pursue a double major in Percussion Performance and Environmental Science.

Lauren is the front ensemble coordinator at Rancho Verde HS, and instructor at Chino HS, Woodcrest JHS, Martin Luther King HS, Elan Percussion and Riverside City College Marching Band.

Her performance experiences include RCC Indoor Percussion, Blue Devils, Pacific Crest, Riverside City College Marching Band, and Yamato.

Brian Dinkel

For over 12 years, Brian has been in demand as a performer, teacher, composer and arranger in the Southern California area. In that time, he has performed with internationally renowned artists such as Peter Erskine, Alex Acuna, Tom Scott and the late Ed Shaughnessy. In addition, Brian has had the privilege of teaching and designing for some of the most highly decorated programs in the world.

Since 2004, Brian has been teaching at Riverside City College – currently working as the Front Ensemble Caption Head/Arranger for the world famous RCC Marching Tigers, as well as serving as a Front Ensemble Instructor for 4-time WGI Gold medalist, RCC Indoor Percussion. Since 2010, he has been a Front Ensemble Instructor with the 16-time DCI World Champions, the Concord Blue Devils, and has been the Front Ensemble Arranger for Blue Devils “B” since 2011.

Brian attended California State University, Northridge, where he studied with John Magnussen, Karen Ervin-Pershing, and Jerry Steinholtz. Brian currently resides in Mission Viejo, California, where he is currently working as the Director of Percussion for Woodbridge High School, as well as Caption Head/Arranger for Fountain Valley and Chino High Schools.

Rachel Garcia

From Riverside, California, RACHEL GARCIA is currently attending Riverside City College, pursuing a degree in Music Education. She marched her first and final year of drum corps with Phantom Regiment Drum in 2014, but also marched with the Riverside City College Marching Tigers in 2011.

Rachel teaches high school marching programs as a visual instructor for field and parade band. In addition to visual instruction, she is an accomplished trumpet player, teaches privately, and performs as a Disneyland Musician during the winter season.

Rachel enjoys being around the marching activity and always looks forward to sharing her passion and knowledge of music for future students. She strives to develop top performers who are always looking to improve.

Mason Tanquary

MASON TANQUARY  currently resides in Queen Creek, Arizona, and attends Mesa Community College. He plans to transfer to Arizona State University in the fall of 2015 where he will study music education. 

Mason performed with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps from 2010-2014 and with the ASU Marching Band in 2010.

His teaching experience includes a number of Arizona high schools, including Basha, Perry, Mesquite, Williams Field, and Campo Verde. He is also the Visual Designer for The Basha Indoor Percussion Ensemble.
