Taylor Smith

TAYLOR SMITH is an educator, performer, drill designer, and student in the Southern California region, and lived in Rancho Cucamonga for most of his life. He graduated from Los Osos High School in 2008, and attended Riverside Community College, where he earned his Associates Degree in Human and Behavioral Sciences.

While at RCC, Taylor played trombone with world famous RCC Marching Tigers and was the featured soloist in the 2009 show. He traveled to the Bands Of America Grand National Championships as a performer with RCC in 2008 and 2010. Taylor performed with the Blue Devils in 2010 and 2011. In that final season, he placed second in the Individual & Ensemble Competition for trombone.

After aging-out of drum corps, Taylor accepted a position at Colony High School in the visual caption, and taught there until 2014. In 2012, he was brought as a visual instructor for Pacific Crest. He then taught music and visual for Blue Devils B (2013) and served as visual instructor for The Blue Stars in 2014 and 2015.

Taylor graduated from California State University, Long Beach, in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance and Music Education. He looks forward to earning his teaching credential and becoming a high school band director.

A resident of Long Beach, California, he teaches music at Chino Hills High School and Los Alamitos High School, as well as several middle schools in Orange County, California.

JONATHAN PROBST is completing his degree in Music Education at California Baptist University in Riverside, CA. He is a graduate of Colony High School in Riverside. Drum Corps International attracted his attention at a young age, and he marched with Pacific Crest from 2009 to 2011 on trumpet and baritone. He then went on to play trumpet for the Madison Scouts in 2012, and finished his marching career with the Phantom Regiment from 2013 to 2015. He served the Regiment as trumpet section leader and horn sergeant in his final year.

Jonathan currently performs as a trumpet player at Disneyland. He has worked collaboratively with visual teams in Southern California while serving as a visual instructor for Chino High School, Upland High School, Ayala High School, Rowland High School, and Alta Loma High School. He looks forward to sharing his passion for the marching arts as he pursues a continuing tradition of excellence with Pacific Crest.

BLAKE PATTON is currently attending Murray State University, in Murray, Kentucky, where he is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Photography.

Blake is originally from Owensboro, Kentucky. In 2013, he performed with Music City Drum and Bugle Corps from Nashville, Tennessee. He went on to perform with Spirit of Atlanta in 2014 and 2015 and served as section leader in his last year.

Aside from his performing career, Blake has been an active designer and instructor for both indoor and outdoor. He has an extensive background designing and teaching for competitive/WGI groups across the country.
