Chris Luther

CHRIS LUTHER lives in Seal Beach, California. He currently teaches at La Quinta High School and at West Torrance and North Torrance High Schools.

Chris’s marching career started when he quit playing sports and devoted his time to the percussion section at Los Alamitos High School. After graduating high school in 2013, he went on to perform at POW and then Pulse Percussion. The 2017 season will be his fourth with the organization.

In addition to the performing in the indoor activity, Chris performed with Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2015 and 2016.

He is currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Communications from California State University, Long Beach.

Mario Profita

MARIO PROFITA resides in Tucson, Arizona, where he was born and raised. HE has been teaching for several years, and is currently the drum instructor for Walden Grove and Tanque Verde High Schools.

Mario started his music career as a young guitarist playing for the University of Arizona Jazz Band at the age of thirteen. Later he learned percussion and marched in the Pride of Arizona’s collegiate marching band from 2013-2015.  During that time, Mario performed with Fusion Indoor Percussion and Breakthrough Indoor Percussion, both based out of Arizona.

Mario’s recent performance experiences include Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, POW Indoor Percussion, The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, and Pulse Percussion.

 

Armando Luis Duenas

ARMANDO LUIS DUENAS was born and raised in Baldwin Park, California, and now resides in the city of Azusa. Armando is a proud alumni of Pacific Crest (2007 and 2008). He then returned as Food Service Manager in 2014.

In the field of the marching arts, Armando has worked with many different high schools through out Southern California as a visual coordinator and a brass technician, including Rowland, Azusa, Workman, Sierra Vista, and Gladstone.

He is currently the band director at Water of Life Christian school located in Fontana, California. This combined elementary and junior high has two instrumental ensembles, a worship band, general music classes, and a choir. Along with full time teaching, Armando has a private studio of brass students at the San Dimas Music and Arts Center.

Armando is also a freelance bass trombonist in the greater Los Angeles area. He has toured the country and has performed at notable venues such as Carnegie Hall, John F. Kennedy Center, and The Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Armando received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Azusa Pacific University.

Kevin Sanchez

KEVIN SANCHEZ grew up in the San Fernando Valley. He is excited to be a part of the educational staff at Pacific Crest.

Kevin has performed with POW Percussion, Pulse Percussion, RCC Marching Tigers, Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps.

In addition to his performance experience he has also been on the instructional staff for Schurr High School, Cathedral City High School, Alta Loma High School, and he currently serves as Co-Manager for POW Percussion.

Kevin is expected to graduate in June 2018 from the University of California, Irvine, with his Master’s degree in Professional Accountancy and is also an incoming Tax Staff Associate at Moss Adams, LLP, in Irvine, California.

Matt Allen

MATT ALLEN grew up in Los Angeles, California, and has lived there his whole life.

His performance experiences include Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps, POW Percussion, Pulse Percussion, and the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (2015 and 2016).

Matt has taught for a number of high schools in Southern California, including Mira Costa, West Torrance, San Pedro, and Katella. He also teaches privately.

Outside of the marching arts, Matt has performed in commercials for Skechers, Boost Mobile, and TD Ameritrade.

Dolfo Picanco

DOLFO PICANCO is an instrumental music teacher at Millikan High School in Long Beach, CA. There he serves as the director of marching arts, jazz ensembles, and introductory concert band.

Dolfo received his Bachelors of Music in Instrumental Music Education from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, and is now pursuing a masters degree in wind band conducting from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University. Dolfo’s primary instrument is Bass Trombone and has studied with Steve Trapani, Wayne Soloman, Anthony Collins, and David Ridge.

Dolfo’s Drum Corps experience dates back to the summer of 2004 when he played Euphonium for Fever Drum and Bugle Corps from Modesto California and again in 2005. Starting in 2006 Dolfo started marching with the Santa Clara Vanguard and stayed for four seasons until 2009 aging out as section leader and co-horn sergeant.

Dolfo’s teaching of the marching arts began right after graduating from high school. He has taught visual and music to high school marching bands across the state of California for over 10 years. Since aging out from DCI in 2009, Dolfo has also served on the teaching staff of the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets, The Sacramento Mandarins, and Golden Empire Drum and Bugle Corps.

Dolfo is a member of several musical and educational organizations such as the National Association for Music Education, California Music Educators Association, California Teachers Association, Southern California Band and Orchestra Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia national music fraternity.

In his free time Dolfo is an avid Cyclist, Triathlete, World Traveler, Movie buff, and Baseball fan. (Go Giants)
