Dan Adams

Having marched with the Santa Clara Vanguard organization in 2001 and 2003-2006, DAN ADAMS served his last two years as Horn Sergeant. As an educator he has worked with a number of groups throughout California which include Homestead, Fountain Valley, Oak Grove, Nogales and Rancho Cucamonga High School to only name a few. He has also had the pleasure of working with DCI Open and World Class groups such as the Vanguard Cadets, Arizona Academy, Spirit of Atlanta and most notably served as the Visual Caption Head for Spirit from 2012-2014.

Dan holds a B.A in Music Education from CSUSB and a M.M. in Trumpet Performance from the University of Redlands.

He is currently a trumpet player in the United States Army Maneuver Center of Excellence Band in Fort Benning, GA, which serves over 500 military music missions a year. Having previously served in the 113th Army Band in Fort Knox, KY, he now lives in Columbus, GA, with his wife Jacqueline and adopted dog Mopsy.

Brass Arranger and Composer

DOUGLAS SCOTT THROWER is a free-lance composer/arrangeR/trumpeter from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He has been a brass instructor for the Bluecoats since 1992 and has arranged for the corps since 1997. He has instructed and arranged for many bands and drum corps including Troopers, Dutch Boy, the Kiwanis Kavaliers and the Canadian Knights (1986 Class A World Champions). He currently composes and arranges for numerous high schools and universities. In addition to marching music he arranges for various ensembles (jazz and symphonic) and theater groups.

Doug studied with Don Johnson at Humber College in Toronto and studied jazz performance at McGill University in Montreal. He has recorded performances for the C.B.C. and can be heard on four recordings with the McGill Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Gordon Foote.

Doug with his wife Evelyn Blackwell has two daughters, Shelby and Claire.

Chris Henderson

CHRIS HENDERSON has an unyielding passion for working with youth arts education and non-profits.

Chris performed with Pacific Crest from 2005-2008. After aging out, he then took up roles in Visual Instruction, Tour Management and Administrative Operations. Chris has also been a music and visual performance educator at several high schools in Southern California. Currently he works with schools in the Azusa and Torrance areas serving in roles such as visual technician, visual caption head and program coordinator. Chris also serves as a Director to the World Class SCPA/WGI Percussion ensemble Pulse Percussion.

For over a decade, Chris has worked for the Walt Disney Company in Anaheim as a confectioner and research product developer.

He was born and raised in Southern California and currently lives in Downey, CA.

Arts Education Partnership Program Funds Instructor Stipends

This past summer, Pacific Crest was awarded a grant from Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe’s Arts Education Partnership Program (AEPP). The grant supported the instruction of the 2016 Drum and Bugle Corps.
