BRIAN CRIST hails from San Diego, California, and has been an active educator throughout the San Diego, Vista, and Poway Unified Districts since 2005.  In addition to Pacific Crest, he has taught for Orange County Independent, Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, and The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps.

Brian began his musical endeavors at the age of four when he began studying violin. He continued with strings throughout his early years, and began percussion and horn studies at the age of 13.  He performed with the San Diego Young Artists Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Louis Campiglia, and served as concert master of San Diego All County & State performing ensembles. Becoming a member of San Diego Alternative Percussion Ensemble in it’s premiere years of 2005 and 2006, he marched tenors the first and joined the front ensemble his last.  From 2007 – 2009, Brian was a member of The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps front ensemble, and he performed with RCC Winter Percussion from 2008 – 2010.

Brian has had the privilege in working with many influential musicians and educators, including Louis Campiglia, Analt Almani, Mary Gerard, Andrea Venet, Jack Mizutani, Chris Retschulte, Glen Crosby, Ralph Hardimon, Thom Hannum, Ike Jackson, Brian Dinkel, Jim Wunderlich, and Sean Vega.

In his youth, Brian attended camps with Interlochen Center of the Arts and Tanglewood Festival. After high school, he spent two years at Manhattan School of Music and studied violin under Ms. Anat  Malkin Almani. He is currently enrolled at UC San Diego with the ultimate goal of attending medical school.

Brian teaches at San Marcos High School, Riverside King High School, Orange County Independent, and Pacific Crest.
